SKIN CARE INSTRUCTIONS AFTER A PEEL
What to do after chemical peel treatment?
1. Always remember the negative effects of the sun's rays on your skin and wear sunscreen
Avoid the sun and don't be shy about using sunscreen.
The most delicate time for facial skin is immediately following a chemical peel. Specifically "peeled" skin The youthful skin that is exposed after the skin on the surface is removed is extremely sensitive to the sun's harsh rays. As a result, you must now more than ever pay attention to skin care after peeling.
If you can't stay in the shade when you're outside, wear sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher to shield your skin from the sun's harmful UV radiation. After therapy, sunscreen usage should continue for at least six weeks.
2. Decide to use a cleaner without soap (soap-free)
It's time to switch to a soap-free cleanser if you're currently using one that leaves your skin dry and tight.
Cleansers without soap are mild, suitable for delicate skin, and they won't overdry your skin. By removing its natural oils, soap leaves skin tight and dry, and a chemical peel will take more than enough of your skin.
3. Use cool water to wash your face
The skin is relatively fragile, young, and easily irritated after being chemically peeled.
Therefore, using hot water might irritate and even inflame the skin. The best alternative that is mild and pleasant for skin that is currently mending is washing your face with cool water.
Remember to pat your skin dry with a soft cloth rather than rubbing it after washing your face.
4. Maximum hydration
An efficient post-peel skin care technique is to apply a moisturizer to help the skin regain moisture.
Avoid using moisturizers that include irritants because they can irritate skin that is already sensitive. Examples of these are acids and acne actives.
Additionally, the chosen product should be water-based in order to be slim and light, not sticky, and better for the skin. (Always keep in mind that moisturizing helps slow down the skin's shedding because soft skin won't come off easily.)
Use moisturizing, restoring, anti-aging cream as an example
Avoiding some things after chemical peels
1. Prevent perspiring
Take a break from your sauna sessions; refrain from tanning and strenuous activity. Maintain dry skin until your skin starts to show signs of improvement because sweat might irritate your skin.
2. Restrict Exfoliation
Your skin will start to peel and dry up after a chemical peel; you probably won't want to do much more than grab an exfoliator and rub it on your skin to remove those bothersome flakes as soon as possible.
However, put the exfoliating products in the cabinet and lock it if necessary before stopping this thought.
With chemical peels, skin only needs to endure one of the most abrasive exfoliation sessions of its life.
Try to wait at least 3 days for the skin to relax and for a gentle peel if you want to exfoliate thereafter.
The recovery period for moderate or deep chemical peels might last for many weeks; always follow your doctor's advice!
3. Please refrain from removing or tugging at the skin's scales
The same rule applies to not exfoliating, peeling, or pruning your skin. It is perhaps more difficult to follow this advice than to exfoliate at all.
However, if you do nothing but obstruct the skin's normal shedding process, the skin may bleed and leave scars. That is unquestionably much worse than the discomfort of observing transient peeling areas.
4. Steer clear of retinol
Retinol derivatives are great skin care treatments because they encourage the formation and regeneration of new cells.
The same technique also works with chemical peels to improve the appearance of the skin. Therefore, avoid overdosing on retinol after a chemical peel.
Before resuming retinol use, allow the skin to fully recover. A week prior to a chemical peel, you should also cease using any products containing retinol.
5. Allow the skin some time to heal
All you need to focus on with post-chemical peel care is healing.
Before beginning a new skin care regimen, the skin needs time to heal; this should be at least one to two weeks.
I hope this post has given you further insight into how to efficiently and correctly care for your skin after a peel.
